Terms of Service
Last updated: October 19, 2026
These Terms explain how you may use HONED, what we promise and what we do not promise. Read them in full before you create an account.
1. Who we are
HONED is operated by Filip Kustec.
HONED is a self-serve fine-tuning service. You describe a task and upload examples. HONED writes and labels training data, trains a small open model, tests it against frontier models on your own examples, and lets you call the trained model in the app and through an API.
"HONED", "we", "us" and "our" mean Filip Kustec. "You" means the business or person that uses the service.
2. Business use only
HONED is for businesses. By creating an account you confirm that you use HONED for your trade, business or profession, and not as a consumer. If you accept these Terms for a company, you confirm that you have authority to bind it.
3. Accepting these Terms
By creating an account, signing in or using HONED, you agree to these Terms, the Privacy Policy and, where HONED processes personal data for you, the Data Processing Agreement.
If you do not agree, do not create an account or use the service.
4. Your account
Give correct information when you create your account. Keep your sign-in method and API keys secure and do not share them with people who may not use your account. You are responsible for activity under your account and your API keys. Tell us at once if you believe someone accessed your account without permission.
5. Your data
"Your data" means the files, descriptions, examples, corrections and API inputs you give us, and the datasets, models, evaluations and outputs made from them for you.
- You keep all rights to your data. We do not claim ownership of it.
- You give us the limited rights we need to store and process your data in order to provide, secure and support the service for you.
- We do not use your data to train models for other customers or for ourselves.
- You confirm that you have the right to upload your data, including data that belongs to your own clients, and that a lawful basis exists for any personal data in it.
- Do not upload special categories of personal data (for example health, biometric or criminal data) or data of children.
Uploaded files are deleted after they are used, and at the latest 7 days after upload. The Privacy Policy explains how long other data is kept.
6. Acceptable use
You must not use HONED to:
- upload data you have no right to use, or break privacy, intellectual property or other laws;
- train or run models for illegal, harmful, deceptive or discriminatory purposes, or to make decisions with legal or similarly significant effects on people without human review;
- produce malware, spam, harassment, child sexual abuse material or content that promotes violence;
- break the usage policies of the model providers listed in the Privacy Policy;
- try to bypass security, rate limits or access controls, or read data of other users;
- overload, scrape, reverse engineer or resell the service without our written consent.
7. Results
Models and evaluations come from machine learning. Outputs can be wrong, incomplete or biased, and a model that scores well on a test set can fail on new inputs. Evaluation results show how a model did on the examples tested, not a promise of future accuracy. You are responsible for checking outputs before you rely on them and for how you use your models.
8. Free beta and credits
HONED is free during the beta. Every account gets $20 in free credits, and inviting friends can add more. Training, evaluation, Try, API calls and batch runs use credits at our provider costs, with no markup. You do not need a payment card or subscription. Technical and security limits still apply.
When credits run out, new runs and API calls pause until you get more; your models and results stay. A run that already started finishes even if it uses slightly more than what was left. Credits have no cash value, cannot be transferred or refunded, and we may change or end them during the beta. Accounts created to collect extra credits lose them.
If we introduce paid plans later, we will explain the price before you choose one. The beta does not enroll you in a paid plan.
9. Our service and third parties
HONED relies on third-party providers for hosting, storage, training, model inference and sign-in. The Privacy Policy lists them. We are not responsible for services we do not control, but we choose them with care and bind them to data protection terms.
We own the service, its software, design and brand. These Terms do not give you any rights to them apart from using the service.
10. Availability and changes
We try to keep HONED available, but we do not promise uninterrupted access. We may change, suspend or stop parts of the service for security, maintenance, legal, product or operational reasons. If we stop the whole service, we will tell you in advance where we reasonably can, so you can export your data.
11. Disclaimers
To the extent the law allows, the service is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not promise that it is error-free or suitable for every purpose. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that the law does not allow us to exclude.
12. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for loss of profit, revenue, data, goodwill or business opportunity. Our total liability for all claims related to the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or 100 € if you paid nothing. These limits do not apply to damage caused intentionally or by gross negligence.
13. Suspension and termination
You can stop using HONED at any time and delete your account in Settings. We may suspend or close your account if we reasonably believe that you broke these Terms, used the service unlawfully or created risk for the service or other people. When an account is deleted, its data is deleted as described in the Privacy Policy.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms when the service, the law or our business changes. We will tell you about material changes in advance at the email address of your account. The date above shows the current version.
15. Law and courts
These Terms are governed by the law of the Republic of Slovenia. The courts in Ljubljana have jurisdiction, unless mandatory law says otherwise.
